What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit websites. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you use them.
How Lifspel Uses Cookies
We use cookies sparingly and only for essential purposes. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking across other websites.
1. Essential Cookies
Lifspel sets one cookie of its own, and it is needed for the site to work:
Sign-In Cookie
- Name: lifspel_session
- Purpose: Keeps you signed in
- Duration: 30 days if you tick "Remember me" when you sign in, otherwise 1 day. Signing out removes it.
- Type: Essential. It can only be read by Lifspel, and only over a secure connection.
2. Preferences Stored in Your Browser
Some interface choices are saved in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. They stay on your device, are never sent to us with your requests, and are not used to track you. They include:
- Whether you have seen the opening tour and the gameplay tips
- The story you were last playing, so Lifspel can take you back to it
- Small display choices, such as tips you have dismissed
Clearing your browser's site data removes them. The tour and tips will then show again.
3. What We Don't Do
Lifspel does not use:
- Advertising cookies — We don't show ads
- Third-party tracking — We don't let others track you through our site
- Cross-site tracking — We don't follow you around the web
- Social media cookies — No Facebook, Twitter, or similar integrations
4. Third-Party Services
Two outside services load on Lifspel pages and may set their own cookies:
- Cloudflare Turnstile — on the sign-in and sign-up forms, it checks that a person, not a bot, is using them
- Font Awesome — serves the icons on our pages
Payments are handled on Stripe's own secure pages, under Stripe's cookie policy. No other third-party services set cookies through Lifspel.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
- Block all cookies — Note that this will prevent you from logging in
- Clear existing cookies — This will log you out
- Block third-party cookies — Lifspel will still work normally
Most browsers provide cookie management in their Settings or Preferences menu.
6. Updates
If we change how we use cookies, we'll update this policy and the "Last updated" date.
